Prophylaxis
One of the first treatments our periodontist may recommend if you have been diagnosed with gum disease is prophylaxis. This deep dental cleaning works to thoroughly remove bacteria and other disease-causing factors from your mouth and halt the spread of the disease. To make your appointment with Dr. Jaklin Morovati and learn more about prophylaxis in New York City, New York, contact our office at 212-297-2567.
Prophylaxis involves a more intensive cleaning routine than regular dental cleanings. Even if you have perfect oral hygiene habits, it is impossible to protect the sections of your teeth that lie below the gumline. Prophylaxis removes the tartar and plaque that builds up below the gumline and in areas of your mouth that are difficult to reach.
Our periodontist will scale your tooth and polish it to make it smoother and less likely to attract bacteria and other harmful deposits in the future. This helps prevent gum disease from worsening and begins the healing process to restore your oral health. Our periodontist may also take the opportunity to check your mouth for any other problematic developments below the gumline, such as tooth decay.
If you have periodontal disease, you should receive deep dental cleanings on a regular basis to help prevent more severe damage from gum disease and bone loss in the future. Our periodontist will evaluate your mouth to determine the severity of your periodontal disease and recommend a schedule of regular treatments to help keep your mouth free from gum disease.
We invite you to contact our office today to learn more about prophylaxis and schedule your appointment with our experienced periodontist.

I went to her because I needed a second opinion on my gums. She was patient and clear in her diagnosis, laying out the options on the table. There was never any pressure to do thing or the other, which I appreciate
